Update - Detention Clock Stop
Dear Valued ONE Customers,
We have received the information below from Union Pacific (UP). “Be advised that due to a main line service disruption near Santa Rosa, NM, Union Pacific (UP) will temporarily suspend service between the ports of LA/Long Beach and Council Bluffs, Kansas City, Chicago (Global 4) and Chicago interchange to eastern carriers (Ohio valley)”.
Effective 12:00 local time Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, temporary ingate suspensions will go into effect for the following lanes:
Eastbound Service (applies to domestic and international service, where applicable):
ICTF: Intermodal Container Transfer Facility, Long Beach CA
TCIT: Twin Cities Intermodal Terminal, Minneapolis MN
IEIT: Inland Empire Intermodal Terminal, Fontana CA
LATC: Los Angeles Trailer and Container Intermodal Facility, Los Angeles CA
STIR: Santa Teresa Intermodal Terminal, Santa Teresa NM
- All Mexico origin shipments via El Paso or Nogales destined to Chicago local (G4)
- City of Industry to Chicago (G1 and G4) and Chicago interchange destinations
- ICTF and all shipments from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to Chicago local (G4) and Chicago interchange destinations
- ICTF and all shipments from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to Council Bluffs
- ICTF to Butler Intermodal Terminal
- ICTF and shipments from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to Kansas City
- ICTF to TCIT
- IEIT to Chicago (G4)
- LATC to Chicago interchange destinations
- STIR to Chicago local (G4)
- Tucson to Chicago local (G4)
Westbound Service (applies to domestic and international service, where applicable):
- Chicago local (G4) to City of Industry
- Chicago local (G4) to ICTF and all shipments destined to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles
- Chicago local (G4) to IEIT
- Chicago local (G4) to El Paso and Nogales interchange destinations
- Chicago local (G4) to STIR
- Chicago local (G4) to Tucson
- Chicago local (G4) to all Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles marine terminals
- Kansas City to ICTF and all shipments destined to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles
Union Pacific has advised to continue to outgate all notified loads at the terminals noted above.

There is no estimated time of opening (ETO) for service restoration. Please note this incident is only directly impacting the UP's network, this is not a shared track and the BNSF transcon route between Kansas City and Los Angeles is functioning normally.
Some traffic currently en route may be rerouted north over the UP's central corridor, however reroute options are limited. Further details of this incident are unknown at this time, ONE will continue to monitor and revert with updates / ETO as information becomes available.
While we wait for updates, ONE will retroactively stop the Export Detention clock from Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 and restart it on Sunday, January 29th, 2023 if rail service is restored for the following category:
- Exports via Los Angeles / Long Beach from following Origins: Kansas City / Omaha / Chicago
