Potential Canadian Rail Delays Due to Wildfire

Dear Valued Customers,

On Monday evening, July 22, 2024, RCMP and Parks Canada requested CN close its mainline due to an approaching wildfire sparked by a lightning strike. This has affected the mainline east of Jasper, AB, on its Edson subdivision.

Due to this, all routes between BC ports (Prince Rupert and Vancouver) and inland CN terminals are impacted.  As of the latest news on July 24, 2024, a very limited number of trains are now allowed through the impacted area with speed limitations and curfew restrictions.  CN does expect several days to resume normal network operating velocity.

Our dedicated cargo management team is currently reviewing all cargo in transit; as well as scheduled shipments to and from the affected region. We will contact all potentially impacted customers directly to discuss alternative routing options that best accommodate your logistical requirements.

We are closely monitoring developments and will provide updates to ensure you remain informed of any changes to your service.

If you have any immediate concerns or require additional information, please contact your sales account representative or the Customer Service desk.

Sincerely,

Ocean Network Express (North America) Inc.
