Notice of Canadian National Export Hold
Dear Valued ONE Customers,
Please be advised that Canadian National (CN) has notified Ocean Network Express of the following Export Hold Review Process to improve the accuracy of commodity descriptions for the U.S. Customs Border Protection.
Effective March 10, exports from Taschereau, Montreal and Brampton, Toronto terminals that interchange with CSX destined for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Elizabeth, New Jersey ports will be placed on hold for a 24 hour period to verify the commodity description on export documentation. During this hold:
- Exports will be released within 24 hours provided the commodity description meets CBP requirements.
- If there are any discrepancies the CN’s Customs team will contact the shipping line to request a revised commodity description.
- Exports will remain on hold until the discrepancies have been resolved
Please note that Freight of All Kinds or FAK should NOT be shown anywhere in the commodity description, otherwise the export will be placed under an immediate hold until revised.
