Japan Import Restrictions - New Year’s Holiday 2023

This is to inform you that restrictions will be implemented on some Inbound Cargo to Japan during the upcoming New Year’s Holiday. 

Please note the following: 

• The Holiday period is from December 27, 2022 through January 4, 2023
• These restrictions will be implemented based upon Vessel ETA to Japan Discharge Port (this means that these restrictions will apply on Export voyages from North America with ETA to Japan within the aforementioned date range).
• Gate Closures at Japan Terminals may occur during these dates 
• Due to Terminal Yard Capacity and Terminal Regulations, the following restrictions will be applied to Inbound Cargo to Japan during this period: 
  • Discharge of DG Classes 1-7 is prohibited. Other Classes of DG are acceptable
  • Discharge of Breakbulk during this period is prohibited
  • Discharge of OOG Cargo that is more than OH:150cm and/or OW:30 CM is prohibited during this period

The restrictions listed above are applicable only to Imports to Japan (no restrictions, at this time, have been announced to Exports from Japan).
