ILWU Canada Labor Update # 2
ILWU Canada Labor Update #2
Dear Valued Customers,
Please be advised that container operations at all marine terminals in Vancouver and Prince Rupert remain shut down due to the strike actions by the ILWU Canada which commenced on July 1, 2023.
Container terminals are locked down until the strike ends. Off dock CY terminals continue to operate up to their individual capacity constraints. Canadian rails have now stopped receiving Canadian Export containers at inland locations to West Coast Canada.
In order to deliver our best service on your supply chain, ONE will work on all possible countermeasures and make following proposals.
US/Canada export shipment
- Canada Inland dry export cargoes/bookings from Montreal and Toronto via Vancouver and Prince Rupert have been switched to via Halifax at no additional cost where possible. Continuation of this will be assessed as the situation develops further.
- US inland dry export cargoes/bookings via Vancouver and Prince Rupert have been changed to other loading port(s) in the US.
- For Refrigerated cargo, please contact ONE for possible solutions and alternatives.
US/Canada import shipment
- Onboard cargoes
- ONE will change our vessel rotation and discharge our US local/inland onboard import cargoes at US port(s) first, pending US Customs approval and within terminal operating abilities.
- ONE will discharge our Canada local/inland onboard import cargoes at Vancouver and Prince Rupert as soon as their labor resumes.
- Pre-carriage cargoes (Bookings)
