Hurricane Ian - Update #4

As communicated in various media sources, Hurricane Ian continues to move northward along the US East Coast.  Please reference the NOAA website as the best source for up-to-the-minute information related to the Hurricane’s path, strength, etc. That Link can be found Here.

We would also refer you to the following updates from marine and rail terminals along the East Coast regarding disruptions to regular service as a result of the storm: 

Port of Jacksonville (JAXPORT) announced condition ZULU (port closure and suspension of operations) which commenced on September 28, 2022 at 12:00 EST and is expected to continue through September 30th. That information can be viewed Here

George Ports Authority (Port of Savannah) has issued a Severe Weather Alert in advance of the approaching storm. GPA will provide day operations through Thursday, with truck gates opening at 4 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m. There will be no Night Gates Thursday. The cutoff time for container pickup on Thursday will be 4:30 p.m.; cutoff time for container drop-offs will be 5 p.m. Savannah’s Ocean Terminal will operate as normal from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday. North Carolina State Ports Authority has announced closure of Port of Wilmington for September 29th at 17:00, with Terminal to remain closed through September 30th. Terminal will reopen on October 3rd. Customers can sign up to receive further Alerts Here

South Carolina Carolina Ports (SCPA) has announced that Terminals in the port (Wando Welch/North Charleston) will be Closed on September 30th (Terminal operations will be normal on September 29th). . Currently, no impact is expected for Inland Ports Greer and Dillon. Updates from SCPA can be found Here

CSX Railroad has announced that Intermodal customers should expect delays for rail traffic into and out of Florida. Terminals currently impacted include:

CSX - Jacksonville, FL

  • Inclement weather and high winds are expected to sporadically halt Jacksonville lift operations. 
  • The Jacksonville terminal currently plans to maintain normal gate hours.
  • Updates will be provided as necessary depending upon storm conditions in Jacksonville.

Reminder: CSX - Tampa & Central Florida ILC

  • The gates are closed to all traffic until further notice.
  • Reservations are no longer available for traffic destined to Tampa and CFILC. Traffic already in-gated at origin may experience delays.
  • Updates will be provided when conditions permit safe resumption of operations.

All other intermodal terminals are maintaining normal gate hours at this time, but additional gate closures and train cancellations may be necessary.

Demurrage/Detention Charges will not be applicable on Days where facilities are Closed as a result of Hurricane Ian. 

We will continue to monitor the path and progress of Hurricane Ian as the storm progresses, and will provide further updates on service disruptions as the information becomes available.
