Ocean Network Express Leads Participation in NorCAL Zero Project
Ocean Network Express (North America) Inc. (ONE NA) is committed to sustainable transportation. As a participant in the NorCAL Zero-Emission Regional and Drayage Operations with Fuel Cell Electric Trucks (NorCAL ZERO) Program, which is funded through CARB's #CAClimateInvestments and the CEC's Clean Transportation Program, we are reducing our carbon footprint and paving the way for a greener future.
The NorCAL Zero project aims to bring zero-emission freight transportation to Northern California. To achieve this goal, 30 units of Hyundai Motor Company's Class 8 XCIENT Fuel Cell electric trucks have been designed, built, and mobilized, providing a sufficient fleet of trucks to ONE NA. These trucks have a payload capacity of up to 40,000 lbs and a daily range of up to 200 miles, making it easy to integrate them into ONE's operations in the Oakland area all year-round

Jill Crick, a Green Truck Analyst in ONE NA’s Truck Procurement team, attests, “ONE NA is pleased to be part of this innovative, clean energy project. The hydrogen fuel cell truck represents a promising option for the future of trucking and supports ONE's global ambition of achieving zero emissions by 2050.”
This initiative aligns with ONE's mission to achieve carbon net-zero shipping by 2050 and demonstrates ONE NA's focus on expanding its sustainability efforts into its onshore operations. In addition to participating in the NorCAL Zero project, ONE has established a North America-focused Green Strategy program that prioritizes decarbonizing ONE’s coastal and onshore operations within the North American market; it expands ONE NA's vessel-focused Green Strategy into ONE NA’s business and operations. Overall, ONE’s vision is to offer an end-to-end green supply chain in partnership with its customers and vendors.
ONE NA understands that achieving Net Zero involves finding zero or lower greenhouse gas emission options in all legs of the supply chain and collaborating with customers and vendors alike. For this reason, ONE is open to and actively seeking other opportunities to collaborate on similar projects. For North American customers and vendors interested in decarbonizing their supply chain in onshore operations or on ONE’s vessels with our ONE Leaf+ service, please contact your local ONE NA representative to learn how we could achieve a more sustainable future together.
